Sublet Clothing – Bamboo Fashion

Posted by jonesy on March 7, 2008

Fashion conscious and environmentally friendly &#8211 no, this is not an article about recycling black plastic bags!

Sublet Clothing is a fresh new eco-fashion line that derives its name from the sublet apartment that first brought its founders (Tara and Inessah) together several years ago.

These two roommates turned business partners developed Sublet Clothing as a means for positive social change, while fostering collaborative community within the fashion industry. The company is run with socially and environmentally responsible considerations from product source to consumer wardrobe.

The company’s crisp, breezily sophisticated blouses, cardigans, and dresses, available in natural, olive, and black are made in New York City from sustainable fibers such as bamboo and organic cotton and are flying off sales racks throughout the US.

Why Bamboo?

Bamboo is an easily renewable resource which unlike many other crops can regenerate quickly without the use of pesticides and fertilizers. Once harvested bamboo doesn’t need to be replanted, and its extensive root system can improve soil quality. It has a natural sheen and a soft silky feel as well as being anti-bacterial and highly breathable.

Organic cotton is also used in all Sublet products, grown without chemical pesticides and fertilizers and certified through a third party. Finally, garments are manufactured domestically in NYC, providing jobs for people from sample making through to label printing.

By bringing a keen eye for styles that appeal to a wide population of women, Sublet Clothing has opened a doorway and invited the fashion industry to follow in its environmentally responsible footsteps.

Be careful with bamboo. It requires **A LOT** of energy to turn it into pliable fabric. While I admit the feel is delicious, unless you are sure your supplier is using green power, you really aren’t doing our small planet any favors by using it.

Hemp is a much greener choice; even organic cotton.

Those days are gone where men used to stick to fashion because they were not getting enough fashion trends as women used to get. So for that reason 1underwearstore.com has brought up a new sleek look to Mens Underwear.
