Cool The World – Deborah Pardes
We all know that music is a powerful emotional trigger. We have playlists of songs that soothe us when we’re stressed, pump us up at the gym, and make us dance around our rooms, air guitars in hand. But have you ever heard of music that inspires people to act more eco-consciously? Call it green music if you like.
Enter musician, performer and environmental activist, Deborah Pardes. For Pardes, music is more than a vehicle to express personal emotions– she uses it as a tool to convey her passion for environmental concerns.
Deborah links music and green issues in, quite simply, one of the most beautiful songs I’ve heard in a long time. It’s called Cool The World, off Pardes’ latest CD, Love And Discipline.
Cool The World is a fresh take on the story of global warming, a provocative song with an essential message. Richly arranged, with expressively haunting vocals, it’s just the kind of insightful and accessible call to action we need. “Art and music have lived in the belly of all revolutions,” says Pardes. “We’re pushing for another one: Cool the World.”
Pop in one of Pardes’ CDs (or download her music, as the case may be) and you’ll be instantly hooked by her soulful voice. Her lyrics are witty and warm, with haunting guitar licks and rich, distinctive arrangements.
So listen to Cool The World and share it with everyone you know. You won’t be able to resist singing along with the chorus, but you’ll also be listening carefully to the lyrics. It will affect even those who haven’t given much thought to the issue of global warming. Get inspired to act more consciously, to see the world in its current state—and catch a glimpse of what it could be if we helped sustain it.
You can listen to Cool The World here. Pass this link along and help spread the word. The more people who are affected by its message, the better off we’ll be! I’m sold on music as a tool for change. We sometimes think that it takes drastic measures to get people involved in green issues, but Pardes proves that the emotional power of a song can do the trick.

I’m not normally a fan of pop music or music with a message but…this is a nice mix – the melody is indeed haunting. Our change agent voice fits extremely. Fading and drums are not overdone and the vocals grab me – Ms Pardes has a voice that invites more listening. Thanks for posting here!

This song brings visions of the world in a perfect state, an original state. Of a human race that respects it’s mother like our ancestors did. I sing along and I feel the energy of change being released into the universe. Thank you Deborah, for this beautiful and meaningful song.

Thank you! I always loved the soft drink song:
I’d like to buy the world a home
And furnish it with love
Grow apple trees and honey bees
And snow white turtle doves.
I have selected a verse without commercial intent, and wonder if the song was originally filled with love rather than the “high fructose corn syruped” version that was used in the ad?
